This Two Day Practical Course Covers:

This is a two day hands on practical workshop.  We start with the basics of boxing and go over the differences in gloves, wraps and pads, learn the different punches and what can go wrong when done incorrectly, learn fun drills and combinations and spend plenty of time practicing what you have learnt.  You receive a printed workbook, hand wraps, and certificate worth 20 CPD's for REPs NZ registration.

There's no pre-requisite for this course as all of the fundamentals are covered, but if you are already an experienced trainer you will enjoy learning advanced drills and patterns.  This course is also suitable for people who wish to improve their own technique, and those training with clients.

FAQ's

I've done boxing workshops and courses before, what makes this one special?  
This course is run by an ex-Boxer now REPs registered Personal Trainer who knows the challenges faced by professionals in the fitness industry.   He will show you how he has increased his client numbers and attendance at group classes through using boxing in his sessions.  This course starts at the basics and moves through to advanced techniques and combinations as used by professional boxers but with a focus on how to incorporate these skills into one-on-one Personal Training and Group Fitness classes.  As this course runs over two full days and is limited to maximum of 20 attendees there is time for open discussion, lectures, practical teaching and practice of all the course content.  We guarantee that you will learn and practice techniques and skills that you may not have seen before. 

How many practical hours are in this course?
The workshop is designed to cover 16 hours over two days.  Approximately 40% of the time is in lecture format learning techniques, safety, and more interesting dynamics for your training sessions.  60% of the time will be spent in practical coaching, practicing the skills that you have learnt.  

I'm considering travelling for the course, can you give me more information on timing? 
Each day runs from 8am to 5pm.  You will be expected to arrive on time and stay to the end so please arrange your travel accordingly.  We respect your time and ask you to do the same for us.

Do I need to bring my own gloves, wraps and pads? 
No we provide everything you will need on the day.  If you have your own gear you are welcome to bring it and use it on the day but its not necessary.


Will I get course notes so that I can go over what I have learned? 
​
YES! We have created a comprehensive workbook so that you can take all of your learnings with you and refer back it when preparing your own classes.  

I need CPD points to maintain my REP's registration, is this course certified.    
Yes HumanWeapon is registered as a CPD provider with REP's.  With course completion and passing the assessment you will receive a certificate and 20 CPD's.  You only need 10 points per year to maintain your registration, so the extra points can be carried over to cover you for next year as well.  

Can I do this course if I'm not REP's registered?
Yes.  This course is suitable for all trainers whether REP's registered or not.  We know that not all trainers are affiliated with REPS and this course is suitable for anyone who is instructing, coaching, or training, and even for those who are just interested in improving their own skills when attending boxing fitness classes or at the gym.   You don't need to be a Personal Trainer or Coach to attend, but the course material is designed for those teaching/instructing boxing and boxing fitness classes and sessions.  

I have never boxed before.  Will this course be Ok for me?
This workshop covers the basics including the types of gear suitable for fitness training and boxing coaching, takes you through each of the different punches and how to use different combinations, we cover drills and fitness activities, and make sure you leave knowing how to instruct safe boxing technique, and with the skills to hold pads for your clients without injuring yourself.  You will leave with the confidence to teach a class/training session with experienced clients.
 
I am a boxer, but I want to expand my knowledge.  Is this course suitable?
Even though we start with the basics, the course will give you the knowledge and skills to deliver complex combinations used by professional boxers in training.  As this workshop is practical in nature you will have the opportunity to practice the drills and combinations in both boxing and as a pad holder.

Do I need to be a Personal Trainer or Coach to do this course?
No you don't.  The course content is delivered for those teaching and coaching boxing or boxing fitness classes, however is suitable for anyone wanting to improve their own technique and training.  

I'm a boxfit instructor.  Can this course help me to improve my skills?
Yes.  The workshop will give you advanced combinations and drills that you can use to up-skill your clients.  You will learn the safe way to use pads and prevent injuries to both yourself and the boxing clients.   

I'm a new Personal Trainer.  Can this course make me increase my clients volume?

Yes.  Boxing for fitness in both one-on-one and and classes have been becoming increasingly popular.  Boxing is a great all over body work out and helps with muscle tone and cardiovascular fitness.  With broader skills and abilities you will be more appealing as a trainer and can offer clients valuable workouts.   

Can this course build my confidence to deliver a good group class?
Absolutely.  After you have finished this course you will know how to build a fun and dynamic class for your group or individual training clients.

How will this course improve my business?
Learning new skills will always improve your ability to teach, instruct and grow your business.  This course will give you the skills to present more variety to your clients and make your training more appealing.

I'm nervous about speaking in front of other people, do I have to?  This course is hands on and it is designed to prepare you to be able to deliver instruction with your clients too.  We do need to practice this within our time together but you will find yourself within a supportive environment of likeminded people who are all there to learn too.

What if my situation changes and I can't attend the workshop I have booked and paid for?  We can arrange a refund or a credit against a course on a different date.  
If two weeks or more before the course start date - 90% refund
If  two weeks or less before the course start date - 50% refund
If booking changed to a different date - $50 admin fee


In the event of an emergency or natural disaster, earthquake etc - and the event is cancelled within 5-days of the event date, there will be no refunds.
